On 14 January 2020, a member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Abdrakhmanova A.R. held an information event “Russian heritage” for the students of the 3rd grade of Bolgar Comprehensive School №2. This activity was devoted to Russian Day of reserves and national parks.
On 11 January people in оur country celebrate the Day of reserves and national parks. This holiday appeared in 1997 at the initiative of Wildlife Conservation Centre and World Wildlife Fund. On 11 January 1917 in Russia the first state reserve – Barguzin Reserve was formed. It is situated in Buryatia, on the eastern side of Barguzin ridge, on the northeast coast of Lake Baikal. It was created in order to preserve and increase the number of barguzin sable, which was on the verge of extinction.
Reserve – what does it mean? Reserve is a specially protected natural area, which remains 80% of the species richness of flora and fauna. There are more than 100 reserves with total area of 340 thousand square kilometers in Russia today.
Not only reserves help to keep nature. Different national parks, botanical gardens, The Red Book were also created for this purpose. During the event pupils got acquainted with new concepts, watched a presentation and a video, learnt about the history of emergence of this ecological date in Russia – 11 January. Children found out that our district has а natural preserve “Spassky”. It is a group of 60 islands with the total area of 17979 hectares. Today “Spassky” preserve is the largest natural preserve in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Pupils actively worked at the event – answered questions, carried out different tasks, read poetry. In conclusion of the lesson, children were given commemorative gifts – postcards with the images of protected natural areas of Russia. There are also pictures of “Spassky” preserve and historical objects of Bolgar Museum-Reserve on these postcards.
