On January 13, 2020, an employee of the Department of Museum and educational activities of the Bulgarian Museum – reserve Sabirova L. A. for students of the Bulgarian boarding school FOR children with disabilities, held an interactive event “Christmas came-carols began”.
Yuletide holidays begin with the night of Christmas eve on January 6, when the first star is lit in the sky. From now on, the Christmas fast ends. The celebrations last for 12 days and end with the Baptism. Yuletide was a festive week that had to be spent cheerfully. This time was devoted to rest, and every believer had to attend a service at least once. It was customary to help the poor, visit shelters, distribute clothing and food. After all, this holiday was dedicated to the most important event of every Christian – the Birth of Jesus Christ. Yuletide was accepted to meet joyfully and with a good mood. So these days spent a few fun playful rituals ,caroling, fortune telling.
At the event, the children got acquainted with the history of the holiday, traditions and customs, actively participated in the quiz, games, made Proverbs and of course received sweet prizes.
Rites and rituals of winter Yuletide transferred by our ancestors through the millennia and prohibitions. They should be preserved as a bright phenomenon of our history and culture.
