Interim results of the world heritage site management plan “Bulgarian historical and archaeological complex” are presented at the International Congress in Moscow
On November 26-27, 2019, the annual international Congress “world heritage of the CIS countries”was held in Moscow on the basis of the Russian research Institute of cultural and natural heritage named after D. S. Likhachev.
The event was attended by Deputy Director of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve for science A. N. Faskhutdinov and coordinator of the project “Volunteers of the world heritage of Bulgarians” N. L. aituganova. As part of the work of the section on the development of management plans and master plans for world heritage sites in the CIS countries, representatives of the Museum-reserve made a report on ” Interim results of the implementation of the management plan of the world heritage site “Bulgarian historical and archaeological complex “for 2016-2021”.
“The availability of management plans, on the one hand, is a mandatory requirement of UNESCO. On the other hand, it is an absolutely new tool for the preservation and sustainable development of world heritage sites in Russia. The platform of the Congress was a great opportunity to exchange experience and find new opportunities for the implementation of management plans in the CIS countries” – commented A. N. Faskhutdinov.
The management plan of the world heritage site “Bulgarian historical and archaeological complex” for 2016-2021 was developed with the support of the Republican Fund for the revival of historical and cultural monuments of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2015. The management plan was the first Russian strategic planning document to be approved by the UNESCO world heritage Committee.
