On July 30, 2019, the scientific employee of the Department of excursions of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve Abdrakhmanova A. R. for tourists from Samara held an event “Let’s join hands”, dedicated to the International day of friendship.
International day of Friendship (International Day of Friendship), established by UN General Assembly resolution No. 65/275 of may 3, 2011, is celebrated annually on July 30.
The world faces many challenges and threats: poverty, violence, violation of human rights. This undermines international peace and security, social foundations, creates obstacles to development, divides people and societies. In order to successfully confront these challenges and threats, it is necessary to eradicate their causes. This can be achieved through solidarity, which can take many forms. First of all, it is friendship, it makes us closer. Together we can reach agreement, create normal conditions for the existence of all people who want to make the world a better place.
The UN has invited state structures, as well as international and regional organizations, to celebrate this day in accordance with the cultural traditions of a country and to organize events and initiatives that will contribute to the efforts of the international community and will be aimed at promoting dialogue among civilizations, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation.
The resolution emphasizes the importance of the new date in strengthening friendly relations between different peoples. “Friendship among peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and provide an opportunity to build bridges between societies that honor cultural diversity,” the document says.
Indeed, friendship is not only a close relationship between individuals, but also the friendship of different religions and nationalities. These relations are best reflected in our Bulgarian Museum-reserve, where the Orthodox and Muslim shrines – the assumption Church and the Cathedral mosque-stand side by side, symbolizing the kinship and true friendship of representatives of different faiths.
During the event, the guests learned about the history of the holiday, visited museums, got acquainted with the architectural monuments of the ancient city, and also received magnets with images of the Cathedral mosque and the Church of the assumption. Of course, most visitors were interested in standing next to the Church and mosque, which is not surprising, since they still attract the attention of absolutely all guests of the Museum-reserve from a distance.
