July 28, 2019 for a tour group from the city of Buinsk of the Republic of Tatarstan on the territory of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve employee of the Department of excursions BGIAMZ Rogacheva Mn held a thematic event “History of Orthodoxy in Volga Bulgaria”, dedicated to the Day of the baptism of Russia, in order to expand historical knowledge, development of respect and respect for the cultural heritage of the country.
The day of the baptism of Russia is celebrated by millions of people around the world. The day of the baptism of Rus is a state memorable date legally established on may 31, 2010 in memory of the baptism of Rus, referred to 988. The day of the baptism of Russia is enshrined in the legislation of the Russian Federation “as a memorable date of an important historical event that had a significant impact on the social, spiritual and cultural development of the peoples of Russia and the strengthening of Russian statehood.”
On this day, the guests arrived at the Bulgarian Museum-reserve, visited the Museum of Bulgarian civilization, where they could see archaeological finds related to Christianity in the ancient city of Bolgar, Christian tombstone with Armenian ligature. The Museum of the history of the Church of the assumption – old printed and handwritten books, attributes of the Christian world 18-19 centuries., the monastery, once located on the territory of the former city of Bolgar. They also got acquainted with the history of Orthodoxy in Volga Bulgaria. During the event, they took part in the quiz, answering the proposed questions with interest, and themselves revealed the theme of Christianity and Orthodoxy, complementing it with their stories. After taking a walk around the ancient city and getting new information about it, the guests discovered Bulgarians not only as a Muslim city, but also as a city of different religions, peacefully coexisting in it.
