On June 7, 2019, the opening of the exhibition “Turkic trace” dedicated to the 1130th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922 (according to the Hijra) took place in the Museum of the Koran. The exhibition is provided from the collections of the funds of the State Museum-estate “Arkhangelsk”, from the library of Prince Nikolai Borisovich Yusupov.
One of these collections is a complex of books related to the themes of Islam and the Turkic East. Their presence in the library can be hypothetically explained by N.’s undoubted interest.B. Yusupov to his Eastern origin, and interest to history. Information to explain the appearance of a particular publication in the Yusupov library, links to a specific motive, is not yet available and the solution of these issues is a matter of the future. However, this can not prevent, as a first step to their resolution — to present at the exhibition several publications that allow to establish the range of printed sources and manuals at the disposal of N. B. Yusupov and allowing to outline his possible Outlook on the topic. And it is impossible not to see that the range of these sources is wide enough, much wider than that of his descendants.
The author of the idea and concept of the exhibition Rakhmatulina Alfiya Bakhytzhanovna, author of creative projects related to the history and culture of Russia and Tatarstan, honored worker of culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by invited guests, employees of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve, colleagues from the Museum-estate “Arkhangelsk”.
