Cattle breeding

Cattle breeding played an important role in the life of the population of the Volga Bulgaria. According to the items in the archeological collection dedicated to cattle breeding, we can conclude that Bulgarians mainly contained cattle and sheep as well as horses. The collection includes shears for shearing sheep, rubbing post, bell and other tools and items. The development of cattle breeding was facilitated by the presence of magnificent pastures and many rivers and lakes. Breeders’ products were the main source of raw materials for many craftsmen: tanners, bone cutters, spinners, etc.
