The experience of the Bulgar Museum-reserve in the organization of the volunteer movement for the preservation of the world heritage was presented in Germany

From 5 to 11 November 2018, the annual meeting of coordinators of volunteer projects in the field of cultural heritage was held in Weimar. The event was attended by more than 40 specialists from 17 countries. The event was organized by the non-profit organization “European heritage Volunteers” (Germany).

The purpose of the meeting is to exchange experience and present best practices in the organization of volunteer programs aimed at the preservation of cultural heritage sites, including projects of world heritage sites within the framework of the UNESCO initiative “world heritage Volunteers”. The best projects in this field, including the project “Volunteers of the world heritage of Bolgar “were also presented at the European specialized exhibition for the preservation, restoration, use and promotion of cultural heritage”Denkmal”.

Nargiz aituganova, employee of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve and coordinator of the UNESCO international volunteer camp in Bolgar, presented the results of the volunteer shifts of the project “Volunteers of the world heritage Bolgar” in 2017 and 2018.

European heritage volunteers is a non-profit organization with 20 years of experience in organizing volunteer projects at cultural and natural heritage sites in Germany. The organization also has its own network of partner projects in Europe and is the coordinator of the UNESCO world heritage Volunteers Initiative in Europe.
The UNESCO world heritage Volunteers initiative has been implemented since 2008 in the format of international volunteer camps at world heritage sites. In 2008 – 2017, 359 camps were organized in 61 countries with the participation of 3,500 volunteers. In 2018, the right to hold volunteer camps UNESCO received two Russian objects-the Historical center of St. Petersburg and the Bulgarian historical and archaeological complex.
