The campaign UNESCO “world heritage Volunteers”, from 26 July to 12 August 2018, 26 young people from Russia, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, India, Mexico, Serbia and France took part in the II International volunteer camp in Bulgar.

The volunteers worked with the archaeological collections of the Bulgarian state historical and architectural Museum-reserve: they helped the staff of the Museum-reserve to reconcile 43,900 items, to arrange storage of about 20,000 items of mass material, to reconcile about 9,000 items of the scientific and support Fund, to carry out photographic recording of 1,315 items, to scan 993 maps, photographs and documents and to conduct an inventory of 428 items. Volunteers also translated into English the website of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve and developed a memo to visitors of the Bulgarian historical and archaeological complex in 5 languages.

The second international volunteer camp UNESCO was organized by the Bulgarian Museum-reserve supported by the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Tatarstan in the framework of the Year of the volunteer (volunteer) in Russia and in the framework of the Year of cultural heritage in Europe.

The UNESCO world heritage Volunteers initiative has been implemented since 2008 in the format of international volunteer camps at world heritage sites. During 2008 – 2017, 359 camps were organized in 61 countries with the participation of 3,500 volunteers. In 2018, the right to conduct UNESCO volunteer camps received two Russian objects-the Historical center of St. Petersburg and the Bulgarian historical and archaeological complex.
