On June 9, the head of the local history department Sadrieva N.M. held an event titled “Suvar: the Legacy of a Great City” at the Suvar City History Museum for students from the “Rostok” labor camp at Bolgar secondary school No. 1.
The ruler and princess of Suvar greeted the guests and offered them traditional chak-chak as a treat. During the event, participants were immersed in a reenactment game. The game’s plot revolved around the arrival of the Suvar tribe in the Middle Volga region. The children were transformed into members of the Suvar tribe who faced the threat of attack from the warlike Khazar Khaganate. Life became dangerous, and the tribe had to find a new and safer place to settle. The journey from the foothills of the Caucasus to the Middle Volga region, where the city of Suvar was later established, required the Suvar tribe to navigate the terrain and understand the conditions for establishing a settlement. These tasks required specific knowledge and skills.
The reconstruction game was a success, and it was an interesting and educational event for all the children. After gaining theoretical knowledge during the museum tour, the children enthusiastically explored the surviving ramparts and ditches of the Suvar fortifications.
23 people participated in the event.
