On May 25, an employee of the excursion organization department at the Bolgar Museum-Reserve M.N. Rogachyova held the event “Journey to the Past” for 18 students from the 6th grade of secondary school No. 22 in Ulyanovsk. The event was devoted the World Heritage Days of Russia, and aimed to expand children’s historical knowledge, foster their love and respect for their homeland’s history, and promote a careful attitude towards the cultural heritage of our country.
During the interactive and educational event, the schoolchildren, having visited the Museum of the Bulgarian Civilization, became acquainted with the history of the ancient city of Bolgar, actively and with great interest participated in the tasks offered. On the territory of the Bolgar settlement, the children saw the unique monuments of architecture of the 13th-14th centuries, got acquainted with folk and artistic crafts, having visited the workshops on artistic painting of souvenirs, basket-weaving and making of patchwork dolls, and created various products with their own hands. On this day, the students embarked on an exciting “journey into the past,” not only gaining new knowledge about their native land’s history but also experiencing a wealth of vivid impressions and positive emotions. The most active students received albums about the city of Bolgar.
