On May 5, the head of the “Museum of Bulgarian Civilization” department of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Zarifullina T.G., a museum curator Kamayeva T.P. and a curator of the exhibition Sheronova A.A. held an information and educational lesson “The candle of memory will not go out!” dedicated to the Day of Great Victory. The participants were students of the 6th grade of Bolgar secondary school No. 1.
The children actively participated in the discussion about the Great Patriotic War and answered questions about why this war is called the Great and Patriotic. Holding portraits of the heroes, they told about the feats of the 28 Panfilov soldiers and the company’s political officer Vasily Klochkov who famously said, “Russia is great, but there is no retreat – Moscow is behind us!” They also spoke about Alexander Matrosov who sacrificed his life by covering the embrasure of a bunker, and Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, a partisan fighter. About the only woman hero, the commander of the marines Evdokia Zavaliy, about the Red Army soldier Ivan Sereda who captured an enemy tank almost with his bare hands, about the military pilot Nikolai Gastello who made the first fire ram, sending his burning plane into a group of German tanks and armored personnel carriers.
A video film “About the Great Patriotic War” was presented to the attention of schoolchildren. In memory of those who fell during the war, in memory of the veterans who did not live to see today, a minute of silence was announced. A candle of remembrance was lit throughout the event.
17 schoolchildren participated in the class.
