On May 5, a researcher at the Bolgar Museum-Reserve O.P. Osintseva gave a lecture “When the field mail comes” to 14 children of the “Kolosok” kindergarten.
During the lecture, kids learned about the work of the field post during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the difficulties faced by the postal workers, the letters written by soldiers from the battlefield, and the anticipation of these letters at home. The children also learned about the writing of letters, the conditions and materials used, and the fact that every soldier carried a stub of a chemical pencil. At home, their letters were cherished, re-read, and memorized. The sheets, on which the letters were written, were carefully folded into a triangle.
At the end of the lecture, kids tried to fold the sheets into a triangle on their own and wrote their names on them.
