On April 6, a methodologist of the “Museum Street” department of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve L. Sh. Sagirova held the event “Secrets of Tatar headwear” at the local mosque for children of Bolgar town.
The event focused on the history and significance of traditional Tatar headwear (tuybeteyka and kalfak). The participants became acquainted with the types of these headdresses, learned about the variety of styles of skullcaps, and that the shape, features of the pattern, color of the embroidery and purpose differ depending on the ethnic and territorial affiliation. The children also became familiar with the ornaments, symbols and rules of wearing elements of the Tatar costume, their role as markers of age and social status. In conclusion, kids played folk games.
Thirteen people attended the event.
