On April 3, 2026, the exhibition “Threads of traditions: national costumes of the peoples of the Volga region” was opened at the exhibition space of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
The exhibition is a space that brings together the history, art and traditions of various ethnic groups in the region. It immerses the viewer in a world of diverse national costumes that reflect the uniqueness and characteristics of each people of the Volga region. The exhibition features a collection of traditional costumes from the Russian, Tatar, Chuvash, Mordovian and other ethnic groups living in Tatarstan. Each costume is adorned with handcrafted embroidery and patterns that have been passed down through generations. This allows visitors to experience the atmosphere of ancient customs, family celebrations, and folk festivals. Special attention is given to ethnographic details such as headwear, jewelry, footwear and accessories.
The opening of the exhibition was accompanied by an interactive area where visitors could participate in master classes on creating national elements and learn about the crafts of the indigenous peoples of the Volga region. This exhibition not only introduces viewers to the culture of the region, but also helps to foster mutual understanding and respect among people of different nationalities, emphasizing the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of our multi-ethnic country.
Students from the House of Children’s Creativity in the Spassky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan attended the opening. They had a tour and participated in master classes.
The exhibition will continue to work until June 1, 2026.
