On March 13, a researcher at the “Museum of Bulgarian Civilization” department of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve S.V. Krivosheeva conducted an interactive lesson “Educational institutions of the Spassky uyezd” for students of the 2nd grade of Bolgar secondary school No. 2.
The children got acquainted with educational institutions of the city of Spassk of the IX century, learned that there were elementary schools for girls and boys, church and parish schools. The students compared the names of the subjects studied in these schools with the subjects of a modern school. They also found out who was the teacher’s assistant, who supervised the order, study and discipline of the students, and about the existing penalties for disobedience. The participants even got to know such a punishment as standing on peas visually and tried it on themselves.
The class was attended by 17 people.
