On March 13, a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve I.D. Muhametshin gave a lecture “Cities of the Golden Horde” to the students of the 7th grade of Bolgar secondary school No. 1.
The children learned many interesting facts about the cities of the Golden Horde that flourished in the 13th-15th centuries. They usually stood on trade routes: the Great Silk Road, the Dnieper way, the Volga way. Many of them were revived in their former place: Bulgar, Dzhuketau. Others were built from scratch: Sarai al-Jedid, Sarai al Mahrusa, Ukek. Travelers and historians have described cities that arose in the steppe with palaces, baths, mausoleums and gardens. Artisans, merchants, poets and philosophers lived there. They created a unique civilization that connected Europe and Asia. After the invasion of Tamerlane in 1395, many cities were destroyed. The remains of them can still be seen in the steppe.
The story about the treasures that were found by archaeologists during excavations aroused great interest among schoolchildren. Many of these things can be seen in museums.
The lecture was attended by 24 people.
