On March 5, the head of the department of storage of immovable monuments of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirova L.A. held an interactive game event “March 8 is a wonderful day” for 20 students of Bolgar boarding school for children with disabilities.
Previously, in many countries, women did not have the right to vote and could not study. The girls were not allowed to go to school. At the end of the 19th century, Clara Zetkin first put forward the idea of uniting women around the world in the struggle for full equality with men. The women were allowed to work. But the working conditions were difficult. Then in New York (a city in the United States of America), more than 150 years ago, female workers marched in the “march of empty pots.” They loudly beat on empty pots and demanded higher wages, better working conditions and equal rights for women and men. This surprised everyone so much that the event was called Women’s Day. In our country, March 8 has long been a regular working day. But on May 8, 1965, on the eve of the 20th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, International Women’s Day was declared a holiday.
At the event, the students got acquainted with the history of the holiday and its traditions. They actively participated in quizzes, contests, and enjoyed playing games, as well as receiving memorable gifts.
