On January 20, a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve O.P. Osintseva held an event “Epic heroes” with nine pupils of the “Kolosok” kindergarten in Bolgar.
The young participants of the event immersed themselves in the atmosphere of epics and legends, learning who the heroes were and what place they occupied in the history and culture of Russia. Kids listed the names of the most famous heroes – Ilya Muromets, Dobrynya Nikitich and Alyosha Popovich. They discussed the heroes’ exploits and valiant deeds sung in folk legends. The key qualities of a true hero were identified: strength, courage, wisdom, honesty and devotion to the Motherland.
Special attention was paid to the heroic armor. The children learned about each element of the equipment – helmet, chain mail, shield, sword and spear, as well as how they were called, and what they were intended for.
Then the children were happy to solve riddles that required knowledge of heroic subjects; put together puzzles depicting Russian heroes and their exploits, and colored drawings.
