On December 6, 2025, the staff of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Salimova G.I. and Strelov A.P. held for 9th grade students of Bolgar boarding school for children with disabilities an educational event “Visiting the potter” dedicated to the International Day of the Disabled.
The children learned about the history of pottery, its role in the culture and way of life of the Volga Bulgars. The stories about the artisans who created real works of art from clay, about the secrets of firing and decorating ceramics inspired the young listeners to their own achievements. The most exciting moment was getting to know the potter’s wheel. Under the master’s guidance, the children were able to touch the magic, and like real potters, put a piece of their soul into a handmade souvenir.
At the end of the event, satisfied and proud of their achievements, the children took home not only handmade souvenirs, but also invaluable knowledge about pottery in Volga Bulgaria, as well as unforgettable impressions of immersion in the world of creativity and craftsmanship. This day will undoubtedly remain in their memory as a vivid memory of getting to know the rich heritage of their land.
