On November 13, 2025, a researcher of the department “Museum of Bulgarian Civilization” of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve S.V. Krivosheyeva conducted for 2nd grade students of Bolgar secondary school No. 2 an interactive lesson “It’s more fun to live if you do good” dedicated to World Kindness Day.
The children became acquainted with the history of the holiday and its traditions. World Kindness Day has been celebrated since 1997 when the “World Movement for Kindness” volunteer association was established in Japan. It has no political or religious affiliation and aims to spread the ideas of kindness around the world.
It is no coincidence that World Kindness Day has become popular. Scientific research confirms that good deeds really affect health and life expectancy. People who do these things regularly are less likely to get sick, live longer, and are less likely to be depressed.
In Russia, World Kindness Day has been celebrated since 2009. Since then, charity events, volunteer events and flash mobs have been held in Russian cities on November 13. More and more people are joining the movement, organizing the collection of things for those in need, assistance to animal shelters, visits to orphanages and nursing homes. In recent years, the tradition has gained popularity when strangers come together through social media to help a particular family or person in a difficult situation.
The children participated with interest in the conversation about kindness, about what kind of good deeds can be done at their age. They actively built a house called “kindness” from the bricks that make up this concept, and played the game “Finish the word.” The second graders were also introduced to books on how to become needed and useful.
17 people took part in the lesson.
