On November 4, 2025, a researcher of the department “Museum of Bulgarian Civilization” of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve S.V. Krivosheyeva held for 15 tourists an interactive event “We are strong by the power of one” dedicated to National Unity Day.
The guests were introduced to the history of the holiday. National Unity Day is a Russian public holiday celebrated on November 4 since 2005. The day of military glory of Russia is established on this day. This holiday symbolizes the unity of the multinational people of the country.
The date of November 4 was not chosen by chance. It was on this day in 1612 that the militia led by Minin and Pozharsky stormed Kitay-gorod, which predetermined the liberation of the whole of Moscow. The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, to which the soldiers attributed miraculous power, played an important role in the victory.
The initiative to establish the holiday belonged to the Interreligious Council of Russia. The leaders of the country’s traditional faiths jointly came up with this idea, emphasizing the importance of interethnic and interreligious harmony.
On November 4, solemn ceremonies are held throughout the country. The President of Russia traditionally lays flowers at the monument to Minin and Pozharsky. The Government organizes receptions in honor of prominent figures of culture, science and art.
At the end of the event, tourists actively participated in the quiz “My Russia”.
