On October 16, within the framework of the project “Bolgar for All” implemented at the expense of the “Tatneft” Charitable Foundation, regular classes were held with 10 students of grades 5-6 of Bolgar boarding school for children with disabilities at the archaeological site, in the creative studio “Territory of possibilities” and in the pottery workshop of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve.
On this day, the children continued their acquaintance with archeology. They became familiar with the concepts of “cultural layer” and “mainland”. Children saw the cultural layers of ancient Bolgar in the museum’s exposition, and tried to determine what time they belong to using the schematic map. The participants became “archaeologists” again, conducted excavations and identified objects that they found in the sand. Children learned about the restoration of the finds, became “restorers” themselves and successfully connected all the fragments of the clay plate. In the pottery workshop, the children continued to learn how to sculpt pots on a potter’s wheel and how to decorate them with ornaments, and put their master’s mark on them. During the art painting class, the students painted stylized coins with the image of Bulgar locks, which they saw in the museum. During an additional needlework lesson, children became acquainted with the manufacture of amulet dolls from scraps of cloth. With great interest, the participants learned how to draw with sand.
Children come to such classes with pleasure, where in a relaxed atmosphere everyone chooses what he likes and learns about the world of the past and present through contact with the museum and creativity.
