On August 15, the exhibition “A.P. Smirnov is an outstanding researcher of Volga Bulgaria” opened in the Bolgar Museum–Reserve.
The opening of the exhibition was timed to coincide with the celebration of Archaeologist’s Day, which is marked annually on August 15. The exhibition reveals the theme of the study of the Bolgar hillfort by Alexei Petrovich Smirnov, an outstanding archaeologist, founder of Bulgar studies in Soviet and Russian archaeology, professor at Moscow State University, deputy director of the State Historical Museum.
A.P. Smirnov is a famous scientist who discovered the Bolgar hillfort to the scientific world!
The exhibits included a portrait of Smirnov, personal belongings and documents from the stock collection of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve.
