On September 18 in the Bolgar Museum-Reserve, as part of the project “Bolgar for All”, which is being implemented at the expense of the “Tatneft” Charitable Foundation, the museum staff conducted the first scheduled classes in the creative studio “Territory of Opportunities” and in the craft center “Bulgar Masters”. The museum classes were held for 10 students of Bolgar boarding school for children with disabilities. On this day, at the craft center, children made clay products on a potter’s wheel. In the creative studio, the girls became acquainted with the weaving craft and painted in the sand, changing the lighting on the tables. During the museum classes, the children listened to an excursion about the history of their region, got acquainted with the objects that were found by archaeologists and became researchers themselves for a while. In a special sandbox table, the participants dug up copies of archaeological finds, guessed their purpose and found the originals in the museum’s exposition. The children divided into two teams and put together puzzles in the form of Bulgar clay jugs on a magnetic board.
The schoolchildren tried on their own and helped each other. They were very pleased with their work. Within the framework of the project, children become familiar with the history of their native land, with different areas of handicrafts and art, but most importantly, they learn friendly communication and mutual assistance.
