On September 19, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Yu. A. held an event “History of development of medicine in Volga Bulgaria” for tourists from Nizhnekamsk.
The medical knowledge of Volga Bulgaria was based on the traditions of folk medicine (importance was attached to the healing properties of honey, birch broom, beaver stream, belemnites). Medicine in the 10th—11th centuries gradually transformed from folk medicine into professional, scientific medicine.
During the event, tourists visited the museum “Healer’s house”, became acquainted with the exposition and learned a lot of new and interesting things about the history of medicine among the peoples who previously inhabited the territory of present-day Tatarstan.
Eleven people attended the event.
