On September 16, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve D.P. Hramov held an information and educational event “Architecture of Volga Bulgaria” for 22 tourists.
If in the history of the Bulgars VIII-IX centuries were a transitional period from nomadism to a sedentary lifestyle, then the end of IX-beginning of X centuries were a time of unification of various tribes and the creation of a culture of a single centralized state. The formation of the state contributes to significant successes in the development of productive forces. Ideologically, this is the time of the adoption and spread of Islam, which has left its mark on the entire spiritual life of the Bulgars, on their art and artistic culture. This is a time of flourishing of the so-called Muslim culture, close communication between the peoples of the Near East, Middle East and Eastern Europe. These interactions had a certain leveling effect on the development of architecture and art in Muslim countries, contributing to the commonality of many architectural forms, design solutions, construction techniques, as well as art subjects, and, in some cases, even style features. Throughout its history, Volga Bulgaria, in terms of the development of its culture, architecture and art, was close to Transcaucasia, the Middle East, and gravitated towards Central Asia, with which close economic relations were established.
The participants of the event learned the history of the architecture of the ancient city of Bolgar. They interactively became acquainted with the preserved architectural monuments of the Bolgar settlement of the 13th-14th centuries and learned many interesting facts.
