On September 19, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve V.N. Glavnova for 13 students of Bolgar boarding school for children with disabilities held an information and educational event “Peace to the children of planet Earth” dedicated to the International Day of Peace.
In 1981, at the 36th session of the UN General Assembly, the International Day of Peace was established “in order to spread and consolidate the ideals of peace both in relations within all states and peoples and in relations between them.”
After watching the video “International Day of Peace”, the children learned the history of this holiday, that the symbol of Peace is a dove with a sprig of olive. The students took part in the quiz “Peace in the heart, peace on earth”. They remembered proverbs and sayings about peace and friendship, rang a small bell, thereby joining the ringing of the big Bell of peace. A minute of silence was held to honor the memory of those who died in wars and all those who were victims of terrorist attacks.
