On September 10, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N.R. for 15 children of Bolgar sanatorium boarding school held an interactive-educational event “Bolgar is the city of scientists” dedicated to the International Literacy Day.
Today, there are more than 700 million semiliterate and completely illiterate people in the world. There are also those who have never seen the book. There are more than 70 million children among them, for many of whom going to school and getting an education is a big dream. This problem is especially relevant in third world countries with a low level of economic development, where wars and civil unrest are taking place. All this served as a prerequisite for the establishment of this holiday.
During the event, the children received information about the International Literacy Day. They solved riddles, recalled proverbs and sayings related to learning and literacy, searched for errors in sentences, and participated in a literary contest “From which work are these phrases?” The students also learned how the education of the population developed in the territory of Volga Bulgaria. At the end of the event, the children became acquainted with the concept of “calligraphy” and tried to make the first strokes themselves. As we know, calligraphy used to be an art that students were taught. While teaching a child to read, they began practicing calligraphy at the same time, in order not only to facilitate the memorization process, but also to lay the foundations of aesthetic taste and awaken the ability to perceive art.
