On August 20, the opening of the exhibition “The great history of small badges” took place at the exhibition site of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
In Soviet times, the auxiliary science of phaleristics was greatly developed. It studies the history of orders, medals, badges, tokens, etc. Phaleristics has been gaining special popularity since 1957, after the VI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow, for which a mass production of service, award and souvenir signs was organized.
The exhibition presents a collection consisting of 167 badges of the Soviet period, which are divided into different groups – cities, countries, events, holidays, memorable dates.
Since childhood, the deputy director for development of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Safina L. N. has been collecting these badges. A few years ago, she donated her collection to our museum.
The exhibition will run until December 23, 2025.
