On July 17, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve V.N. Glavnova held an information and educational event “Bolgar is the tourist pearl of Tatarstan” for 17 schoolchildren of the summer recreation camp from the city of Tolyatti.
The Bolgar Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve is located in the Spassky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan, on the left bank of the Volga River, 30 km away below the mouth of the Kama River. It is a vast hillfort surrounded by defensive ramparts and moats. There is a lot of information about the origin and development of the city of Bolgar of various kinds: archaeological, numismatic, written sources and oral historical folk stories. The territory of the settlement “Great Bolgar” is a place of interest included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
During the creative event, the students visited the Museum of Archeology where they became acquainted with the history of Bolgar civilization, which has global significance. The guests visited the museum-exhibition complex “The Memorial Sign” in honor of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922 and saw the largest printed Koran in the world. After walking through the historical territory of the reserve, children listened to myths and legends, and learned the history of the northernmost monuments of Muslim medieval architecture. The schoolchildren painted souvenirs with their own hands, received a lot of positive emotions and photos for memory.
