On May 28, for 17 sixth-grade students from the school in the village Batyrevo of the Chuvash Republic an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M. N. held a museum lesson “Ancient Bolgar – an open-air museum.”
The students visited the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization where they learned about the history of the ancient city of Bolgar. At the museum, the children actively completed the assigned tasks: they participated in a history quiz; using the copies of ancient artifacts, tried to determine who could have made them and what they were used for, and independently read Peter I’s decree on the preservation of the ancient buildings of Bolgar. The children also saw the majestic monuments of Muslim architecture of the 13th-14th centuries, visited craft workshops, and learned about various types of folk art.
On this day, the students visited the open-air museum and gained not only knowledge about history, but also vivid emotions in the fresh air. At the end of the interactive lesson, the most active children received booklets about Bolgar as gifts.
