On May 9, in the Bolgar Museum-Reserve for all visitors was held an event “Victory May” timed to coincide with the Day of Victory.
As part of the program of the event, there was an action “Field Mail”. During the war years, the field mail was the only way to keep in touch between the front and the rear. Support of soldiers and officers by their relatives was very important for the victory. From all parts of our homeland, letters flew to the front. Field letter carriers, risking their lives, reached the front line to deliver small, folded triangle letters with words of love, warmth and care. These tidings from the front were carefully kept in families and passed on to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the interactive area, visitors were invited to write letters, which were folded with front triangles.
In honor of the Victory Day, the guests of the museum-reserve were given St. George ribbons – a symbol of memory of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Everyone could taste a portion of soldier’s porridge. The porridge is traditionally prepared in memory of the hardships experienced by the soldiers during the Great Patriotic War, so the soldier’s porridge became another symbol of remembrance of the immortal feat of Soviet soldiers. It was possible to taste pancakes baked in the oven. Songs of the war years sounded.
We honor the memory of the feat of the people who by their selfless love for the Motherland and their lives ensured us peace, freedom and future.
