On April 10, a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Krivosheyeva S.V. held an interactive lesson “Day of the Magic Alphabet” for the students of the 6th grade of Bolgar sanatorium boarding school.
Civilization became inevitable on the day when our unknown ancestor made a grandiose discovery: he invented alphabetic writing, in which each written sign corresponded to a speech sound.
The children heard the history of the first alphabet and learned how the aborigines of America and Australia perceived the writing system brought by white people. They believed that learning to write was a religious ritual, and that a book was a living being that could speak and see.
The children got acquainted with the Turkic runic script, Arabic script, Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, and tried to write and read their names in the Cyrillic alphabet.
Ten people attended the event.
