On March 21, for the students of Bolgar secondary school № 1 an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M.N. held an informative and entertaining event “Spring is coming, give spring a way!” timed to coincide with the Day of Vernal Equinox.
During the event, the schoolchildren with the help of a bright presentation became acquainted with the history of the celebration of the Vernal Equinox Day, with the traditions and customs accompanying this holiday in Russia. The children learned about the main signs of the arrival of spring, about such concepts as “Vernal Equinox Day”, “larks”, “zaklichka”. The pupils joined the traditions of Russian folk folklore and, as in the old days, called spring – shouted “vesnyanki”, got acquainted with migratory birds, guessing riddles about them, actively participated in old folk games. At the end of the event, everyone enjoyed traditional holiday pastries – “larks”.
