On February 19, the Bolgar Museum-Reserve was visited by a delegation from the Republic of Iraq, which included the director of the Russian House in Iraq, Alak Ali Mohammed Al-Barghash, deputy general manager of the Holy Mausoleum of Imam Hussein in the city of Kerbela, Dr. Alaa Ahmed Diaa ad-Din, artist and professor at the Babylon Institute of Arts, Dr. Safaa Hatem Saadoun Al-Hasani. Aynaz Mukhametzyanov, producer and director of the documentary and feature film “Ibn Fadlan”, accompanied the guests.
During the trip, the guests visited the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization where they discussed in detail the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922, thanks to the arrival of an embassy from Baghdad to Volga Bulgaria. It was then that the first diplomatic relations between our states began. The Quran Museum and the largest printed Quran in the world made a lasting impression on our guests. They paid special attention to the architecture of the unique archaeological complex of the 13th-14th centuries on the territory of the museum-reserve.
