On February 3, 2025, a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Ahundov N.O. for tourists read a historical lecture “The radical turning point” timed to coincide with the Day of the defeat of Nazi troops by the Soviet forces in the Battle of Stalingrad.
The Battle of Stalingrad is one of the most important and largest general battles of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War between the Red Army and the Wehrmacht. It ended with the victory of the Red Army after a series of defeats in 1941-1942 and marked the beginning of the “radical turning point” (interception of the strategic initiative by the Soviet High Command). The day of the end of this long battle, February 2, is the Day of Military Glory of Russia.
The lecture was accompanied by archival footage of war correspondents. The tourists learned about the significant role of this battle and the victory in it. They learned how this day is celebrated in the former Stalingrad – Volgograd, became acquainted with historical monuments of that great battle: Mamaev Kurgan, Pavlov’s house, etc.
According to the All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center survey timed to the 75th anniversary of the defeat of the invaders in the Battle of Stalingrad, 55% of adult Russians surveyed consider the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad a decisive event for the outcome of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
