On January 30, 2025, as part of the project “Pushkin’s card”, the staff of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve held an interactive event “Bolgar is the keeper of folk traditions” for the students of Spassky College of Industrial Technologies.
Thanks to the theatricalized performance, the participants were immersed in the atmosphere of medieval Volga Bulgaria. The wise man told the students about the ancient city of Bolgar and its masters-craftsmen whose products always embodied the history, culture, traditions and customs of the people.
The participants of the event were presented with various handicraft master classes. Everyone could try themselves in pottery, leather mosaic and wood burning. The children were especially interested in making amulets with runic symbols. Drawing in Ebru technique allowed to create small masterpieces with unique ornaments. The students also had the gastronomic master class on the preparation of special Bolgar tea, where everyone learned how to compose a fragrant collection of herbs, flowers and berries.
For fun were presented medieval board games “Alquerque” and “Mill”, as well as a new game “Journey to the Past”, with which the participants were able to walk through the streets of the ancient city, to get acquainted with its artifacts.
