On 7 September 2024, in Bolgar cadet boarding school a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Osintseva O. P. held an event ‘All Russia remembers not in vain…’ dedicated to the Day of Military Glory of Russia – the Day of the Battle of Borodino. During the event, the 6th grade students consolidated their knowledge of Russian history, analyzed a poem by M.Y. Lermontov on the stages of the war of 1812 and became acquainted with the main heroes of the battles.
The event was conducted with the aim of forming a civic and patriotic position of students, fostering a sense of pride for the heroic past of the Fatherland. Also through the history of their native land, children learnt what attitude the town of Spassk (now Bolgar) had to the French prisoners.
Lermontov’s poem struck contemporaries with its unique combination of poetic image and documentary.
For many years, on the first Sunday of September, military history enthusiasts have gathered not only on the field near the village of Borodino, but also in every municipal district to play out episodes of the famous event, reconstructions of battles, informative quizzes, games and screening of historical films.
