On 23 August 2024, in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization opened the exhibition of the artist Vakhitov R.M. ‘The history of one painting “Suyumbike” from the series “History of Tatars”.
The artist reflects in his work a historical character – the last ruler of the Kazan Khanate Suyumbike and her son Utyamysh-Girey. Suyumbike is sitting on the throne, holding her son with one hand and leaning on the throne with the other. The artist depicted the year 1552. R.M. Vakhitov continues the best traditions of the art of portraiture of different schools and with his work contributes to the development of the national direction in the art of portraiture, makes a significant contribution to the creation of the Tatar school of portrait painting.
The first visitors of the exhibition were guests from St. Petersburg, who were pleased to get acquainted with the work and listened with interest to the legends about Queen Suyumbike.
The exhibition will continue until 25 September 2024.
