On 19 July 2024, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Yu. A. held an event on ‘Historical paths of the reserve’ for 20 guests of the museum.
Today in Russia, there are more than a hundred reserves. One of them is the Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve founded in 1969. It is the world’s northernmost monument of medieval Muslim architecture, an object of historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Tatarstan. It has no analogues in the world as a valuable historical monument testifying to the disappeared states (Volga Bulgaria, Golden Horde). On the territory of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve, there are architectural monuments of XIII-XIV centuries: the Cathedral Mosque, the Great Minaret, the Northern and Eastern Mausoleums, the Khan’s Palace, the Khan’s tomb and the Small Minaret, the Eastern, White and Black Chambers, the Small Town, the monument of architecture of XVIII century – the Assumption Church. In 2014, the Bolgar Historical and Archaeological Complex was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
On this day during the event, the tourists walked through the territory of the ancient city of Bolgar. They visited the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, got acquainted with the history of the city, with unique architectural monuments, numerous archaeological finds, which are presented in the museum, learned about the emergence and development of the museum-reserve, about research and archaeological excavations carried out on its territory.
