On 10 July 2024, the branch “Suvar” and the Reserve of Federal significance Suvar settlement – a historical monument of X-XIV centuries was visited by a prominent archaeologist from China, a professor of world renown in this field Wei Jian with his students. The director of the Institute of History named after Sh. Marjani – A.G. Sitdikov accompanied them.
On behalf of the “ruler and princess of Suvar”, the archaeologists from China were greeted in their native language and treated to the Tatar national dish chak-chak. Then the head of the branch Sadrieva N. M. invited everyone to a tour of the museum. Colleagues from China became acquainted with the history of one of the most important cities of Volga Bulgaria – the city of Suvar, which was once a major centre of crafts and trade. The exhibits aroused great interest and admiration of the guests from the Celestial Empire.
The guests received guest certificates of visit to the museum and chocolate medals. Sadrieva N.M. presented Professor Wei with her book “Ancient Suvar: archaeological research and findings”. A lot of photos were taken as a souvenir.
Then archeologists visited the Suvar ancient settlement reserve, inspected its territory and preserved remains of fortifications.
A.G. Sitdikov from the Marjani Institute presented the Suvar Museum with two volumes of the collection “Archaeology of the Eurasian Steppes”.
