On 5 June 2024, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L.I. held an event on ‘Our protected places’ for 13 students attending the school camp of Bolgar secondary school № 1.
At this event, the pupils learned about the World Environment Day established by the UN. It is marked annually on 5 June. The holiday was proclaimed in 1972 at the 27th session of the UN General Assembly.
On the same day, Russian ecologists celebrate their professional holiday. The Ecologist’s Day is a holiday of specialists who carry out environmental protection activities.
The event touched upon the global problems of humankind that lead to the destruction and pollution of the environment. Schoolchildren were told about the rules of behavior in nature, about rare and endangered animals and plants listed in the ‘Red Book of Russia’. At the end of the event, the children solved crossword puzzles and actively participated in a quiz.
