Epigraphic monuments are important sources on the history, language of the Volga Bulgars. About 200 epitaphs come from the Bolgar ancient settlement. Bulgar artisans also made monuments for other settlements. One of such monuments from 1337 is installed on the grave of Chakar-ilchi – the daughter of Gosman Bulgari in the village of Tatarskoe Shapkino in the Alkeyevsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The epitaph is included in the register of historical and cultural monuments of the republic, but until recently, it was in a deplorable condition.
On 1 June 2024, on the territory of the Tatar-Shapkino cemetery the opening of the restored monument took place. With a large gathering of villagers and visiting guests, speeches were made by the deputy head of Alkeyevsky district, imam-muhtasib of the district, historians-researchers of Alkeyevsky district R.G. Nasyrov, D.G. Muhametshin, M.K. Ganiev and others.
Active participants of the restoration of the monument were awarded letters of appreciation of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve and souvenirs. The event ended with the celebration of ‘Village Day’ in the village of Abdul-Salmany.
