On 1 June 2024, on the territory of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve for 22 children and their parents – employees of JSC ‘Network Company’ ‘Chistopol Power Grids’, Spassky RES, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M.N. held an interactive and educational event on ‘Bolgar opens its secrets’ timed to coincide with the International Children’s Day. The aim of the event was to acquaint children with the history of the ancient city of Bolgar, to develop their respect and careful attitude to the cultural heritage of their native land.
On the first day of summer – 1 June – since 1950, the whole world celebrates Children’s Day. International Children’s Day is a reminder to adults of the need to respect children’s rights to life, to freedom of opinion and religion, to education, recreation and leisure, to protection from physical and psychological violence, from exploitation of child labor as necessary conditions for the formation of a humane and just society. International Children’s Day is always marked by various events aimed at drawing attention to the situation of the world’s children. In our country, Children’s Day is celebrated under the patronage of the Russian Children’s Fund.
During the event, children and parents visited the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, became acquainted with the museum exposition and the history of Bolgar, tried themselves as archaeologists: with great interest they searched in the showcases of the museum for an object according to its copy, found out what it was called and what it was used for. At the Bolgar settlement, the guests saw unique architectural monuments, heard legends, went to the pottery workshop, saw the equipment and finished products of the master-potter. At the end, all the participants enjoyed tea and pancakes at the museum “Bolgar Tea Party”. On this day the children, having made a fascinating ‘journey into the past’, discovered a lot of new and interesting things and received interactive books about the ancient city as a gift.
