On May 2, 2024, a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Krivosheyeva S.V. held an event on “Peace, Labor, May” for eight pupils of the 3rd grade of Bolgar sanatorium boarding school.
At the event, the students learnt about the history of the May Day holiday, how three thousand years ago the inhabitants of ancient Italy worshipped the goddess Maya – the patroness of the earth and fertility. In honor of her, the last month of spring was called May, and on its first day people arranged festivities and celebrations. The children were told how May 1 was celebrated in the USSR, and how this holiday is marked and called in Russia.
At the end of the event, kids took part in the quiz “Who is it about” and made ships out of paper.
