On 25 April 2024, for 20 pupils of the 5th grade of Bolgar secondary school No.1 an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve M.N. Rogachyova held a lecture on “We are proud of our fellow countrymen – heroes of the Great Patriotic War”. The aim was education of patriotism and civic consciousness of pupils, love and respect for the history of their native land and their country.
At the lecture, the children watched a presentation with photos of heroes of the Great Patriotic War, natives of Spassky district, and their awards. All together tried to remember the names and surnames of those veterans who performed heroic deeds and were honored with the highest award of the country – the Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union. Kids learnt a lot about their fellow countrymen who had travelled the roads of war: about those who came back alive and those who died in battles, forever remaining soldiers of that distant war. Children answered quiz questions, recalled and told about their great-grandfathers and relatives who are now in the zone of SMO in Ukraine, about their military life, their exploits, and honored the memory of all those who died during the war years with a minute of silence. At the end, schoolchildren tried to make triangle letters out of paper, the same letters that their great-grandfathers used to send from the front during the Great Patriotic War. They will write letters on such triangles and send them to Russian soldiers who are at the front in Ukraine today.
