On 23 April 2024, the final round of the historical and cultural contest “Tarkhan” was held in Bolgar. For the third time the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan unites high school and college students under the banner of knowledge of Turkic history and culture.
The contest is aimed at popularizing the history of Russia, Tatarstan, history and culture of Turkic peoples, promoting reading culture, increasing interest in the historical and cultural library heritage.
Participants of the historical and cultural competition “Tarkhan” fight for the right to enter the Kazan Federal University in the direction of “History of Turkic Peoples” of the Institute of International Relations. The program was created on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of RT together with Kazan Federal University. The competition for prizes this year was between children from Kazan, Sabinsky district, Zelenodolsk and Mamadysh.
The theme of the first round of the final was Volga Bulgaria. The participants had to answer the questions of the traditional TV quiz. The second round was held jointly with the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization. Copies of the museum’s exhibits became the questions for the finalists. They had to determine the purpose of the items and the time of their use. The expert of this round was a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve G. M. Musina.
In the third round, the jury members will ask their questions on Turkic-Tatar history. This improvisation becomes the main test of the project, but always accurately reveals its leaders. This year’s participants will get a surprise – a special question from the Counsellor of the Republic of Tatarstan M. Sh. Shaimiev.
Traditionally, the jury of the final of the “Tarkhan” contest includes Irada Ayupova, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as representatives of KFU and the Academy of Sciences of RT.
The “Tarkhan” game is televised by TNV channel on Sundays at 10.30 am.
