On 27 February 2024, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Hramov D.P. held an information and educational event on “Bolgar as a UNESCO World Heritage Site” for nine students of the 4th grade of Bolgar sanatorium boarding school.
In 2010, the implementation of the complex project “Cultural Heritage – Sviyazhsk Island and Ancient Bolgar” began, in which great importance was given to the creation of museum and tourist infrastructure. During this time, three significant museums were built: the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, the Memorial Sign in honor of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922, the museum “Healer’s House”; a unique exposition “The history of the Assumption Church” appeared in the architectural monument of XVIII century; four residential houses were turned into museums on Nazarovyh Street.
The main event was the inclusion of the Bolgar Historical and Archaeological Complex in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014. This was a recognition of the importance of Bolgar at the international level, which also affected the growth of attendance of the museum-reserve. The dynamics of attendance growth is the result of the active work of the Republican Foundation for the Revival of Monuments of History and Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan to create a tourist brand “Great Bolgar”.
The students listened a report and watched a colorful presentation. The event continued in the form of a conversation about the modern life of the museum-reserve. At the end, children received books as a gift from the Bolgar Museum-Reserve.
