On 15 February 2024, an employee of the department “Museum Street” of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sagirova L. Sh. held an interactive museum event on “A poet-hero Musa Jalil” dedicated to Musa Jalil’s birthday, for 20 students of Bolgar secondary school No. 1.
During the event, the children learnt about his difficult childhood and teenage years, his literary activity, interesting facts from his life, as well as about the poet’s harsh front days, about the terrible time spent in fascist concentration camps where his poems were the only weapon of Jalil. Children learnt how the poet turned from a traitor to the Motherland into a hero, and what role Konstantin Simonov and Gazi Kashshaf played in this. Musa Jalil was awarded the Lenin Prize for his poetry collection “Moabit Notebook” and posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
The participants of the event read heartfelt, courageous poems in Russian and Tatar, watched a presentation, became acquainted with the museum-apartment of Musa Jalil, which is located in Kazan, read a postcard sent by Jalil to his daughter Chulpan.
At the end of the event, children learnt about the poet’s books.
